The exhibition "Marimekko: Art of Printmaking -Beauty, Dream, Love" (マリメッコ展 模様のちから) is on in the Main Building and Annex of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. It runs from Sat 3 Oct 2026 to Sun 20 Dec 2026. The venue is at 5-21-9 Shirokanedai, Minato-ku, Tokyo, and the Main Building is the former Prince Asaka residence.

The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00, with last entry 30 minutes before closing. It is closed on Mondays, but open on Mon 12 Oct (a public holiday) and Mon 23 Nov (a public holiday), with the following days, Tue 13 Oct and Tue 24 Nov, closed instead. The show follows the changes in Marimekko prints from the 1960s to recent years through about 70 dresses. Sketches, paper cutouts and part of the original artwork for the pattern used in the exhibition's key visual are also on view. The art unit plaplax created a film and projection after visiting a print factory in Helsinki. The designers presented include Maija Isola, Kristina Isola, Annika Rimala, Maija Louekari, Antti Kekki, Katsuji Wakisaka and Sami Ruotsalainen.

Katsuji Wakisaka is listed in Marimekko's official archive, and the exhibition website carries an image of his Katara (カタラ) from 1970.

Akira Minagawa, founder of mina perhonen, presents an installation made from fabrics produced at Marimekko's print factory, after conversations with Marimekko's head of design. The official website notes that the content may differ depending on the venue.

The exhibition is organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture), in cooperation with Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki and with the support of the Embassy of Finland, Japan. It began in Kyoto, and after Tokyo it will be held at the Hiroshima Museum of Art from Sat 30 Jan 2027 to Sun 28 Mar 2027. Further venues are planned, including Kitakyushu, Toyama, Nagoya and Nagasaki.
